Only one Indian bowler has taken less than 30 matches to pick 150 wickets in test cricket.
The last 10-15 years have been a magnificent time in Indian cricket. Not many Indian bowlers have ended up with more than 100 test wickets in their career but the recent era has provided them a bank of players who went far in their career. Only 17 bowlers have gone past the 150-wicket mark in test cricket for India and 11 of them have breached the 200 wickets barrier.
In the last few years, Indian bowlers have become match-winners for their side. Bowlers like Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja have scripted several big performances for Indian cricket team. 5. Erapalli Prasanna – 34 tests:

Erapalli Prasanna was part of a famous spin quartet along with Bishan Singh Bedi, Bhagwat Chandrashekhar, and S Venkatraghavan. Former Indian off-spinner Erapalli Prasanna played 49 test matches and picked up 189 wickets in his career. His 150th test wicket came in his 34th test of his career against West Indies at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Prasanna picked up nine wickets in that game.
4. Anil Kumble – 34 tests:

India’s leading wicket-taker in test cricket Anil Kumble is also among the quickest Indian bowlers to pick up 150 wickets in test cricket. Legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble picked up his 150th test wicket against West Indies at Kingston in Jamaica, which was 34th game of his test career. Kumble picked up 8 wickets in that game. He went on to take 619 Wickets in 132 tests he played for Indian cricket team.
3. Jasprit Bumrah – 34 tests:

Ace Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the finest pace bowlers to play for India in test cricket. Right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah made his test debut in 2018 and completed 150 test wickets against England in Visakhapatnam test in February 2024. England skipper Ben Stokes became Bumrah’s 150th test dismissal. Bumrah took only 34 tests to complete 150 wickets in test cricket, making him the quickest Indian fast bowler to complete the milestone.
2. Ravindra Jadeja – 32 tests:

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is currently one of the most valuable players after star batter Virat Kohli. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja completed 150 test wickets in 32nd match of his career. He touched this milestone against Sri Lanka at the SSC, Colombo in 2017. Jadeja picked up 8 wickets in that game. Ravindra Jadeja has so far picked up more than 500 international wickets for India across formats.
1. Ravichandran Ashwin – 29 tests:

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is India’s one of the leading match-winners in test cricket. Ashwin has been a prolific wicket-taker for India and used Indian turning tracks nicely in his glorious test career. Ravi Ashwin, who made his test debut in November 2011, took 29 matches to complete 150 test wickets. His 150th wicket came against South Africa in Mohali test in 2015. Since then, Ashwin has added more wickets to his tally in the longest format of the game.
