India head coach Gautam Gambhir hosted Team India for dinner in Delhi on Sunday, February 8. This comes after Team India’s opening victory over the USA in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India arrived in Delhi for their next group-stage fixture against Namibia. Gambhir being a Delhi resident, opened the doors of his residence to the players and support staff for an informal evening away from the pressures of the tournament.

This was not the first time Gambhir has hosted Team India. Earlier, he had invited the Shubman Gill-led Test side for dinner during Team India’s recent Test against West Indies in Delhi. Such gestures have been appreciated within the team setup, with the management placing strong emphasis on creating a close-knit environment during long tournaments.

Gautam Gambhir personally welcomed the squad as they arrived, and the dinner was attended by his family, including his wife and children. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was also present at the gathering, adding to the significance of the occasion.

The get-together signals at strengthening team bonding as the Men in Blue continue their World Cup journey across multiple venues. The atmosphere will relax the players and coaches — a welcome break during the intense World Cup schedule.

India are scheduled to face Namibia in their second T20 World Cup match on Thursday, February 12, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Delhi fixture will be followed by travel to Colombo, where India are slated to take on Pakistan. Despite Pakistan deciding to boycott the match, India will proceed with the travel as per the ICC schedule.

The Men in Blue will conclude their league-stage campaign with a match against the Netherlands on February 18 in Ahmedabad. With multiple venues, travel demands, and high expectations, team bonding sessions like these play a crucial role in maintaining morale and unity.
