Rohit Sharma will be leading India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee on Saturday, January 18, announced India’s 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the three-match ODI series against England at home. The home series against England will precede the ICC event. All the big names are back in the squad, with Rohit Sharma leading the Men in Blue, and Shubman Gill has been named as the vice-captain.

India will look to do well in the mega event and win their third ICC Champions Trophy title. They were pretty close to do it last time in the 2017 edition in England, but lost the final to Pakistan. The side has seen a lot of changes since then.

But there are a number of Indian players who played in the 2017 edition and will be featuring in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as well. Here we will talk about such Indian players who feature in both squads in 2017 and 2025.

Six Indian players who played in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and will feature in the 2025 edition

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma, who was vice-captain of India in ICC Champions Trophy 2017, now will lead the side in 2025 edition. He recently won ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and will be looking to add another ICC title to his cabinet. He scored second-most runs (304) for India in 2017 edition and would like to repeat the same this time around as well.

2. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli led the Indian team to the final of the 2017 edition of ICC Champions Trophy. With the bat, he scored 258 runs in five innings at an average of 129 and strike rate of 98.85, which included three half-centuries. Though his current form is not something he would like to have, but India need him at his best if they want to do well in the coming event.

3. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been included in India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but his availability depends on his recovery process from the injury he sustained during Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

He was a rookie player for India in the 2017 edition of the tournament, but now he has become one of the senior cricketers. Bumrah managed four wickets in five matches at an average of 52 in the 2017 edition of the tournament.

4.  Hardik Pandya

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya also featured in 2017 edition of ICC Champions Trophy, and Indian fans won’t forget his cameo in the final. He scored a 43-ball 76 before getting run out. His knock went in vain as India lost the match. Now, Hardik has developed himself as a proven match-winner and will be a core member of the side in ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

5. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami is another Indian cricketer included in the squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025, who was part of the last edition in 2017. Shami has been India’s strike bowler in ODIs for years and the same would be expected in this tournament as well.

6. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is one of the six Indian cricketers who were part of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and have been named in the squad for 2025 edition of the tournament as well. Moreover, he was also part of the 2013 edition of the tournament, which India won. His all-round skills will be very important for India as they will play all of their matches in Dubai.
