How India fared in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle?
India have been knocked out of the ICC WTC 2023-25.
The Indian cricket team’s journey in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 came to an end following their 3-1 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.
With a defeat in the Sydney test, the chances of India reaching a third consecutive WTC final blew up in smoke as Australia joined South Africa as the finalists for the ICC WTC 2023-25. They will play the summit clash in June at the Lord’s.
India fared disappointingly in this cycle: they played 19 matches in this cycle. Out of these, they won nine, lost eight, and drew two. In their six test series in this cycle, India won three, lost two, and drew one.
India’s first test series of the 2023-25 cycle was in West Indies, which they won 1-0; India were denied a shot at victory in the second test of that series due to rain. Then, they toured South Africa for a two-test series, which ended in 1-1.
At home, India hammered England 4-1 and Bangladesh 2-0, but suffered a shock 0-3 defeat at the hands of New Zealand. They fell 3-1 to Australia in their last series of this cycle. They finished with PCT of 50%.
