England, led by Ben Stokes, won the first test by five wickets at Headingley. The visitors bounced back well with a massive win at Edgbaston by 336 runs in the second test. The hosts then outplayed the visitors by 22 runs in a nail-biting encounter at the Lord’s before the Manchester test ended in a draw.
So far, India have played 15 tests at The Oval, which is the venue for final test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. While India played 14 tests at the venue against England, one of the encounters came against Australia. The Asian giants have won two tests, while seven ended in a draw and lost five encounters at the iconic venue.

India’s last test match at The Oval was the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 (WTC) final against Australia in June 2023. Rohit Sharma-led India lost the match by a huge margin of 209 runs.
After winning the toss and opting to field first, India’s decision turned out to be a wrong one as they conceded 469 in the first innings to Australia, who were lifted by tons from Steve Smith and Travis Head. Mohammed Shami was the pick of Indian bowlers with four wickets in the first innings.
With half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur, India managed to score 296 in the first innings before getting bowled out. Australia then scored 270/8 before declaring their innings, setting India a target of 444 runs.
India failed to chase the target as they were bowled out for 234 runs in the second innings and Australia lifted their first WTC title. Travis Head won Player of the Match award for his century in the first innings.

However, India won their last test match against England at the venue. India’s last test against England at the venue came in September 2021, which they won by 157 runs.
After being asked to bat first, India managed to score 191 in the first innings, supported by fifties from captain Virat Kohli (50) and all-rounder Shardul Thakur (57).
The hosts responded with 290, earning a lead of 99 runs before the visitors stepped out to bat for the second time. This time around, India played cautiously as they batted for 148.2 overs and scored 466 runs to set the hosts a target of 368 runs. Major contributors to India’s total in the second innings were Rohit Sharma (127), Cheteshwar Pujara (61), Rishabh Pant (50) and Shardul Thakur (60).
India then bowled out the hosts for 210 on final day of the test to win it by a margin of 157 runs.
