India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to end their 11-year-long wait for an ICC title.

One year ago, India Cricket Team won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final. The Rohit Sharma-led India outplayed the Proteas by seven runs in a nail-biting final on June 29, 2024 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.

With the victory, India also ended their 11-year-long wait for an International Cricket Council (ICC) title. Virat Kohli played a crucial role with the bat in the encounter, scoring 76 runs after India lost three quick wickets at the start. Axar Patel slammed a quickfire 47 runs to help India reach 176/7 in the first innings.

Later, the Men in Blue restricted South Africa to 169/8 in the second innings to win the encounter. Hardik Pandya bowled a brilliant final over and defended 16 runs. However, it was Suryakumar Yadav’s incredible catch near the boundary to dismiss David Miller that turned the match completely in India’s favour.

Indian cricketers share post on ICC T20 World Cup 2024 victory anniversary

On the first anniversary of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 victory, some Indian cricketers took to social media platforms Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to share posts, recalling the winning moment. Players like Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav shared posts to recall India’s triumph in the ICC tournament.

Meanwhile, the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final was the last T20I game for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. While Kohli and Rohit announced their retirement from T20Is right after the game, Jadeja later announced the same via social media. Kohli won the Player of the Match award in the final, and Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the Player of the Tournament. Later, a victory parade and felicitation ceremony for players were organised in Mumbai.
