It was followed by Afghanistan beating Pakistan to qualify for the finals. Now, India will take on Afghanistan in the final of the tournament, and the team that wins the game will win the gold medal. India will be the favorites, but they can't write off Afghanistan in any situation. We will talk about the predicted playing XI for India in the gold medal game.
IND vs AFG: India's Predicted playing XI vs Afghanistan
1. Ruturaj Gaikwad (c) :
The Indian captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, made sure that he will finish the game against Bangladesh and played a captain's knock. He scored an unbeaten 40 off 26 balls, with four fours and three sixes, to lead India to the finals. Gaikwad has a brilliant chance to become the first Indian captain to win a gold medal, and he will do everything for it.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal :
After scoring a hundred against Nepal, Yashasvi Jaiswal missed the chance in the semi-finals. He got out for a four-ball duck, but he is too good of a player to miss it again. The left-hander has been in prime form and can take India to gold. He will be a big wicket, and his presence will increase India's chances.
3. Tilak Varma :
Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten fifty in the semi-finals against Bangladesh to make sure that India easily won the game. He remained unbeaten on 55 off 26, with two fours and six maximums, and also took one wicket with the ball. He has shown some good form and is an in-form top-order batter in this Indian line-up.
4. Jitesh Sharma (wk) :
Jitesh Sharma is yet to get the chance as he couldn't bat in the second game for India. But we all know how crucial he can be in this format and can play some quick cameos to change the game's situation. Jitesh has been a consistent performer at IPL and will look to make a mark in international cricket.
5. Shivam Dube :
Shivam Dube is probably the hardest hitter on the ball for this current Indian team. He can take any bowling apart and win the game single-handedly. With that, he can also do well with his medium pace. The all-rounder will make an impact in both departments to prove his presence.
6. Rinku Singh :
Rinku Singh is the pocket dynamo who can be as good as any batter. He made the name for himself after some exceptional performances in IPL and carried the same at the international level. He will be the player to watch out for when it comes to finishing a job in the game. We might see him hitting some sixes in the finals.
7. Washington Sundar :
The spin all-rounder Washington Sundar is another key player on the team because he can contribute with both the bat and the ball. He bowled four superb overs against Bangladesh and took 2/15 to restrict them to a par score. Sundar's bowling will be a key for India in the middle-overs.
8. Avesh Khan :
After missing the second game, we might see Avesh Khan back in the line-up for the finals. He was superb in the quarter-finals against Nepal and picked up 3/32 in the high-scoring clash. He will look to be part of history when India wins the gold and delivers a good spell to help the country do so.
9. Ravi Bishnoi :
Ravi Bishnoi is another important member of Indian bowling attack. He has taken four wickets in two games for India, and batters are finding him hard to pick. India will rely on him during the middle-overs because he is a wicket-taking option and can put the breaks on the scoring rate in this format.
10. Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore :
Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore has made a sensational debut in this tournament. In two games, he has registered 3/15 and 1/25 and has been the pick of the bowlers for India. His ability to take wickets in the middle-overs and at the death has helped India restrict the opposition so far, and one more good performance from him will be worth gold.
11. Arshdeep Singh :
Arshdeep Singh has now become a regular face in India's T20I squad and has been the highest wicket-taker since his debut. The left-arm pacer has troubled the batters with his swing, which can take the ball in and out of the right-handers. Arshdeep's first spell will be a key for Indian team.
