IND vs AFG: India playing XI vs Afghanistan, Match 9, ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 - Predicted
India will face Afghanistan in their second game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Wednesday.
Team India have registered two important points on the table with an exciting win over five-time champions Australia in their opening game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. After a few hiccups at the top, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made sure that India were winning the game and taking the team home. Now, India will have Afghanistan challenge in their next game.
The hosts will lock horns with Afghanistan on October 11 (Wednesday) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India will enter the game as favorites. Afghanistan lost their opening game against Bangladesh. Here we will talk about the possible predicted XI for India against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
IND vs AFG: India's Predicted playing XI vs Afghanistan
1. Rohit Sharma (C) :
Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, got out for a duck against Australia. But he will be keen to get some runs under his belt and give India a good start. Rohit can single-handedly take the game away from the opposition, and until he is at the crease, India will be up and running.
2. Ishan Kishan:
Ishan Kishan replaced Shubman Gill in the last game and is likely to play in the second game as well because Gill is not fit yet. Ishan didn't have a great World Cup debut and got out for a golden duck, but he will look to make the most of the second opportunity he will get, and he can be very dangerous if he gets going.
3. Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli showed why he is known as the chase master in the last game and played an important innings under pressure to take India home. He added an important 165-runs stand with KL Rahul and scored 85 runs. Virat will look to play another match-winning innings to help the team win another game.
4. Shreyas Iyer:
Shreyas Iyer got out playing a rash shot in the game against Australia and scored nothing in his World Cup debut game. But he is a very important player in India's middle-order and has been in good form. Iyer plays spin well and will be a key batter against Afghan spinners.
5. KL Rahul (Wk):
Man of the match of the last game, KL Rahul showed great temperament and form and took India over the line when Indian top-order failed poorly. That is why Rahul is very important to this middle-order because he can play in any situation. Rahul showed great form in the game and will be looking to carry on against Afghanistan as well.
6. Hardik Pandya:
Hardik Pandya is one of the key players in this line-up because of his ability to perform with the bat and the ball. The all-rounder gives the team such perfect balance that India can pick three spinners, just like in the last game. Hardik might have the same role in Delhi as the third seamer, and then his batting will also be equally important for the team.
7. Ravindra Jadeja:
Ravindra Jadeja was the key bowler for India in the last game. He picked up 3/28 in ten overs and created that collapse for Australians. Jadeja will be required again this time around, but the pitch in Delhi doesn't grip much. But with his experience, Jadeja can be dangerous on any surface.
8. Ravi Ashwin:
Ravi Ashwin also had a pretty decent game and finished with 1/34 in ten overs. Ashwin's experience will be the key bowler for India in the middle-overs. India will hope for him to restrict the batters and take some wickets in the middle overs. Ashwin's form can help the team get two more points on the table.
9. Kuldeep Yadav:
Kuldeep Yadav can get turn on any pitch, which makes him a difficult bowler to handle. Australians found him hard to pick, and he took 2/42 in that game. Kuldeep will be a dangerous bowler to face, and Afghanistan might also struggle against him. Thus, India will be looking for some more wickets from him to put pressure on Afghanistan.
10. Jasprit Bumrah:
Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah gave the team a perfect start and finished with 2/35 in ten overs. Bumrah will be the biggest threat for Afghanistan because they rely too much on their openings, and if he can remove one or two from the top, India will firm their grip on the game.
11. Mohammed Siraj:
Mohammed Siraj also bowled well for his 1/26 in the last game. He will be looking to make an impact in the next game for India. Siraj is a canny customer to handle and can make life difficult for the batters with his swing. He is as important as Bumrah for the team and is likely to provide a good start with the ball.
