Twitter erupts as India thrash Pakistan to register record 8th win in ICC Cricket World Cup

India defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Team India carried on their winning run against Pakistan in the World Cup. India won their 8th straight game against Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup. Indian captain Rohit Sharma carried on from where he ended against Afghanistan in Delhi. Rohit’s knock of 86 runs consisting 6 sixes and 6 fours powered India to yet another World Cup win against their arch-rivals Pakistan. India remain unbeaten and go on to top of the table with a dominating win. 

Socialmedia is in full celebration after Team India’s outstanding 7-wicket victory. They are in celebration as India continue their dominance against the Men in Green. Captain Rohit Sharma played a blistering knock of 86 runs in 63 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. He also completed a rare milestone of hitting more than 300 sixes in the ODI format, becoming first Indian and overall third cricketer to do so. Rohit Sharma’s attacking approach ceased the game for Team India and completed an 8-0 scoreline.

Batting first, Pakistan had a dismal batting performance from their middle order. Pakistan’s top-order got off to a decent start against India. Abdullah Shafique (20) and Imam-ul-Haq (36) had a decent opening stand of 41 runs. After losing these two for 73 runs, Captain Babar Azam (50) and wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan (49) added 82 runs for the 3rd wicket. After Babar’s dismissal, Pakistan had collapsed and lost the rest of the 8 wickets in just 36 runs. 

All of the Indian bowlers contributed with 2 wickets each apart from Shardul Thakur. Chasing 192, India had a tremendous start as openers sealed the chase in the first two overs. Rohit and Gill started with a few boundaries in the first two overs. Shubman Gill (16) and Virat Kohli (16) were dismissed early but Shreyas Iyer (53*) put up a 77-run stand for the 3rd wicket. Shreyas Iyer smashed his 15th ODI half-century. 

Team India are now top of the table with three back-to-back wins. India currently have 6 points with a NRR of +1.821. Along with India, New Zealand and South Africa are the other two teams with unbeaten run so far in the World Cup. India will be playing next against Bangladesh at MCA Stadium in Pune on 19th October. Pakistan will be taking on Australia in their next game. Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will host a big clash on 20th October.
