It was a disappointing day for Indian Cricket Team on Wednesday, November 26, as they lost the second test against South Africa Cricket Team to face a humiliating whitewash at home. The Rishabh Pant & Co. struggled with both bat and ball in the clash at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, losing by a huge margin of 408 runs.
On Day 1, Proteas captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bat first. With a century by Senuran Muthusamy (109) and a 93-run knock by Marco Jansen, the visitors piled up a gigantic total of 489/10 in the first innings.
While India were expected to come up with a similar batting show, they completely struggled against the Proteas. Marco Jansen clinched a six-wicket haul as the hosts lost their wickets like a house of cards, getting bowled out for 201 runs.
The Rishabh Pant & Co. also failed to make a mark with their bowling in the second innings, as the Proteas declared their batting at 260/5d, setting a target of 549 runs for India. While Ravindra Jadeja tried his best efforts to draw the game on day 5 with his half-century, other batters failed to support him. In the end, India were bowled out for just 140 runs, facing a dismal defeat in Guwahati.
