India vs Australia ODI series 2023: Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc unavailable for 1st ODI

Australia will take on India in the first ODI on Friday, 22nd September at PCA stadium in Mohali.

Australia will be taking on the field against India at PCA stadium in Mohali on 22nd September without their 2 star players Micthell Starc and Glenn Maxwell. Australian captain Pat Cummins has provided an update on Starc and Maxwell’s fitness and ruled them out of the first ODI scheduled on Friday. India and Australia will be playing a three-match ODI series against each other before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Pat Cummins provides an update

Australian captain Pat Cummins in the pre-match conference provided an update on injuries of pacer Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, and others. Cummins said, “Starc is here, he wants to play tomorrow but he will hopefully be available later on in the series. Same for Maxwell.” Cummins also informed that Starc did bowl in the nets and everything is going as per the plans. Starc was out of the South Africa series as well.

Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell also missed out on action in the five-match series against South Africa. Maxwell is also recovering well and he will probably play in later on the series. Australia had a long list of injuries before the India series and their key players were out of the South Africa ODIs Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, and captain Pat Cummins himself suffered from injuries. 

Captain Pat Cummins also provided an update on his recovery, Cummins said, “We had got a plenty of people at different stages, I am doing pretty good. My wrist is all ok and I am here now 100%, so I will run around this afternoon and hopefully play tomorrow, and yeah, hoping to play all three games”. Cummins was out of the South Africa tour due to a wrist injury. 

India and Australia will open the three-match ODI series at PCA Stadium in Mohali on 22nd September, then these two teams will travel to Indore and play the 2nd ODI on 24th September. The final game of the series will be played at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on 27th September. India and Australia will also open their World Cup campaign against each other in Chennai on 8th October.
