Who is India's vice-captain after Hardik Pandya being ruled out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 ?

India vice-captain Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the remainder of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after sustaining an injury on his left ankle against Bangladesh in Pune last month. Pandya was away from the action and missed the next three games for India in Dharamshala, Lucknow and Mumbai. Pandya will now be sitting out and spending his time at the NCA in rehabilitation. Pandya is replaced by pace bowler Prasidh Krishna in the World Cup 2023 squad.
Who is India's vice-captain for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023?
Hardik Pandya was the vice-captain of the Indian team in the ongoing World Cup 2023. His absence has prompted The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to appoint a new vice-captain of the team. BCCI has appointed wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul as the new deputy leader to assist captain Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul was attending the bowlers meeting in the tournament as wicket-keeper but now he will be there as vice-captain of the team.
According to media reports, a BCCI official confirmed the KL Rahul being appointed as vice-captain of the team. The official told the Indian Express, “The BCCI has appointed KL Rahul as the vice-captain of the Indian team for the remainder of the World Cup. He was informed about it on Saturday morning by the chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, who is travelling with the team,”
Rahul preferred over Jasprit Bumrah
KL Rahul has been picked over Jasprit Bumrah due to his presence behind the wicket which gives a better understanding of the game and situation and plan according to what is needed. Jasprit Bumrah was also part of India’s leadership group, BCCI’s move made it clear when he was given the role of captain in his comeback series after a long injury layoff against Ireland before the Asia Cup 2023 tournament. Meanwhile, KL Rahul also captained the side against Australia in absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya just before the World Cup.
Hardik Pandya got injured while attempting to stop a straight drive of Litton Das against Bangladesh in Pune and straightaway he was taken off the field due to discomfort. India are going strong in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and have won all of their league games so far. They defeated Sri Lanka by a heavy margin of 302 runs, which is India's biggest ever win in the ODI World Cups.
