India vs Pakistan World Cup 2023 match will take place in Ahmedabad, Date to be changed: Jay Shah

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed India vs Pakistan World Cup 2023 match will be played at Ahmedabad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has informed that India’s much-anticipated clash against Pakistan will happen only at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad but the dates will be changed.

In the schedule released by ICC on 27th June, India vs Pakistan clash is scheduled on 15th October, but this will be the day when Hindus' holy nine-day festival Navratri will be beginning. Gujarat is known for celebrating the Navratri festival in a bigger manner than other states. Citing the first day of Navratri, the dates of the India vs Pakistan clash might be shifted a day earlier or later in the tournament.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has also informed that several other boards have also asked to make a change to their schedule. He said, “Two to three ICC full members have made objections to the schedule, there will be some changes in the World Cup schedule but not in the venue. A few members have requested that they have short gaps between two games while they have a long gap of 6 days. We are just trying to change the date and time while retaining the venues. Things will be sorted out in two or three days”. Jay Shah also denied any security threats as claimed by Pakistan Cricket Board on a few occasions.

India women's cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been penalised with a two-match ban by ICC and the BCCI secretary has informed the media that the board will not be appealing against her ban. He also added that the BCCI President Roger Binny and NCA chairman VVS Laxman will be questioning her over her behaviour against Bangladesh.

He also talked about the resumption of the India A series and told that England A will be travelling to India and then after India A will be travelling to South Africa. Later this year, the Indian team will also be travelling to South Africa for a month-long tour.
