The India vs PM’s XI is a day-night pink-ball contest in Canberra.

The Indian cricket team’s preparations for the Adelaide test took a hit as the first day of their two-day warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI was washed out.

The second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 will be played in Adelaide from December 6. It is a day-night test match that will be played with the pink ball.

To get match practice in the day-night setting with the pink ball for the visitors, the India vs PM’s XI match had been organized at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. It is a two-day game from November 30.

The scheduled match time for India’s warm-up match is 02:40 PM LOCAL / 9:10 AM IST / 03:40 AM GMT.

However, the first day (Saturday) was abandoned without toss as rain remained persistent. There was a steady drizzle from 10 am until 5.30 pm local time. The covers stayed on the ground throughout this period.

Once the rain stopped in the evening, the covers were removed and chances of some action arose. The support staff of both teams spoke with the umpires.

However, at around 6:30 pm local time, rain re-arrived and it got heavier at 7pm, killing any chance of cricket today.

India vs PM’s XI to be a 50-over per side contest with pink ball

The India vs PM’s XI warm-up match will now be a 50-over per side contest on Sunday. The toss is scheduled for 8:40 am IST and the start of the match is scheduled for 9:10 am IST.

This warm-up match is the only chance for India captain Rohit Sharma to get a practice match in the day-night setting with the pink ball. Rohit missed the Perth test due to the birth of his second child. He is set to lead the team in Adelaide.

Shubman Gill, who had injured his thumb before the Perth test, is likely to feature in this practice match and then the Adelaide test.
