India Women won the One-off Test against England Women by a record margin of 347 runs.

England women did a brilliant job when they won the three-match T20I series against India women with two consecutive wins. But the way the hosts came back hard in the final T20I, it showed their intent, and the India women carried on that momentum in the one-off test and went on to register a historic win over the visitors. On Day 3 of the test, India declared their second innings at 186/6.

They set a massive target of 479 runs for England to chase. After a disappointing batting performance in the first innings, it was a mountain to climb for the visitors, and they had another disappointing performance with the bat in the second innings. England couldn’t bat against the tight line and length of the Indian bowlers and got all out in just one session.

England couldn’t last for even one session and were dismissed for just 131 runs in 27.3 overs. With this, India registered the biggest win margin (by runs) in the history of women’s test cricket. All-rounder Deepti Sharma, who took 5/7 in the first innings, followed it up with 4/32 to complete nine wickets in the game. She also scored crucial runs with the bat. Hence, the all-rounder won the Player of the Match award.

India broke the long-standing Sri Lankan record of 309 runs. Sri Lankan women beat Pakistan by 309 runs in 1998. It was the third win for India over England and the first on home soil. Earlier in the game, India posted a mammoth total of 428 runs in the first innings. Four Indian batters scored between 60 and 70 runs.

In reply, England were dismissed for just 136 runs, handing India a lead of 292 runs. England only batted for around 63 overs combined in two innings and suffered a humiliating defeat. Pooja Vastrakar also took 3/23 in the second innings to start the proceedings, while Rajeshwari Gaikwad also chipped in with two wickets.
