Which teams will India face in ICC World Test Championship 2025-27?

India will clash with England in their first series in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.
The Indian Cricket Team are all set to commence their journey in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 with the series against the England Cricket Team. Shubman Gill has been chosen as the new skipper following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from test cricket. Hence, the young batter will have the reins of the team during the ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle.
Notably, India have failed to win the title in the previous three editions. They finished as runners-up in the first two editions, losing the ICC WTC 2019-21 final against New Zealand and the ICC WTC 2021-23 final against Australia. They could not make it to the final of the ICC WTC 2023-25, which South Africa won by crushing Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
Nine teams are part of the ICC WTC 2025-27, and a total of 71 games will be played during the next two years. Every team will play six test series during the tournament- three home series and three away series. England (21) and Australia (20) will play the most number of matches during the tournament.
Which teams will India face in ICC World Test Championship 2025-27?
India will play 18 tests during the ICC WTC 2025-27, out of which nine will be home games and nine will be away matches. India will clash with England, the West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Australia during the ICC WTC 2025-27.
They will play an away series against England, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. The campaign against the West Indies, South Africa, and Australia will be played at home. Notably, India will play a five-match series only against England and Australia. The rest four bilateral series will comprise only two games.
The Indian Team will conclude their campaign in ICC WTC 2025-27 with the five-match test series against Australia in January 2027. Below are details for India’s six bilateral test series during ICC WTC 2025-27.
1. June–August 2025: England vs India – 5 Tests (Away)
2. October 2025: India vs West Indies – 2 Tests (Home)
3. November 2025: India vs South Africa – 2 Tests (Home)
4. August 2026: Sri Lanka vs India – 2 Tests (Away)
5. October 2026: New Zealand vs India – 2 Tests (Away)
6. January 2027: India vs Australia – 5 Tests (Home)
