Three Indian players have touched the milestone of 4000 runs in T20Is.
T20I cricket often enjoys more popularity than the other two formats, due to its quick and thrilling competition that goes till the final delivery.
A T20I match finishes in three to four hours, making it time-consuming for spectators. Whether it is men’s or women’s cricket, T20Is enjoy more viewership than the other longer formats. Over the years, many batters have impressed with their performances in the shortest format.
If we look at the stats, Pakistan’s Babar Azam (4429) is the all-time highest run-scorer in Men’s T20Is, while New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (4716) is the highest run-scorer in Women’s T20Is. Some Indian batsmen have achieved considerable success in the shortest format. They scored many runs in their careers.
However, only three Indian players have reached the milestone of 4000 runs or more. On that note, below are Indian players with 4000 or more runs in T20Is. Notably, this list includes both men’s and women’s cricket.
3. Smriti Mandhana- 4007 runs

Smriti Mandhana is the first and only India Women batter so far to reach the milestone of 4000 runs in T20Is. She has mustered 4007 runs in 154 games at an average of 29.90 and a strike rate of 123.78.
The left-handed batter is India’s all-time leading run-scorer in T20Is, and has also scored one century and 31 fifties in her career.
2. Virat Kohli- 4188 runs

Indian batting legend Virat Kohli, who also retired from T20Is in 2024, scored 4188 runs in 125 games at an average of 48.69.
With a strike rate of 137.04 in 117 innings, Kohli has smacked one century and 38 fifties in his career. His highest score of unbeaten 122* came in a clash against Afghanistan in the T20 Asia Cup 2022.
1. Rohit Sharma- 4231 runs

Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the shortest format of cricket after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
He is the all-time highest run-scorer for India in T20Is. He scored 4231 runs in 159 games at an average of 32.05 and a strike rate of 140.89. The right-handed batter hammered five tons and 32 half-centuries in his career.
