Virat Kohli holds the record of scoring most centuries in ODI cricket among Indian batsmen.

India stand as one of the strongest teams in ODI cricket, with a rich history in the format. They have won two ICC Cricket World Cups and two ICC Champions Trophies.

Despite not winning the ICC silverware in ODI cricket since 2013, India have shown consistency and have always reached the knockout stage of the tournaments.

The Men in Blue have produced some of the most dominant batsmen in ODI cricket, who have helped them establish their dominance in the format.

On that note, let’s take a look at the top five fastest centuries by Indian batsmen in ODI cricket.

5. KL Rahul – 62 balls vs Netherlands, Bengaluru, 2023

KL Rahul played a key role in India’s journey to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final. One of his best innings came against the Netherlands in their last group-stage match, where he smashed a 62-ball century, scoring 102 runs with 11 fours and four sixes.

Thanks to his 208-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer, India posted a massive first-innings total of 410 runs and won the game by 160 runs.

4. Mohammad Azharuddin – 62 balls vs New Zealand, Baroda, 1988

Known for his magic wrists, Mohammad Azharuddin was at his best against New Zealand in the fourth ODI of the series in Baroda in 1988.

Chasing a tricky 279-run total, India were in trouble at 118/4 when Mohammad Azharuddin came to the crease. Azhar took on the aggressor role, scoring a 62-ball century and adding 127 runs with Ajay Sharma for the sixth wicket.

Thanks to his unbeaten 108 runs consisting 10 fours and three sixes, India won the game by two wickets with 17 balls to spare.

3. Virat Kohli – 61 balls vs Australia, Nagpur, 2013

India vs Australia 2013 ODI series is widely remembered for high scoring games and some of the most nail-biting contests.

Virat Kohli wrote a memorable chapter of this rivalry in the second ODI of the series in Jaipur with a 61-ball century. Chasing 360 runs, he stitched an unbeaten 186-run partnership with Rohit Sharma for the second wicket.

India ultimately won the game by nine wickets to level the seven-match series 1-1.

2. Virender Sehwag – 60 balls vs New Zealand, Hamilton, 2009

Perhaps the most expected name on the list will be of Virender Sehwag. Known for taking the game on from the first ball, Sehwag created history by recording a 60-ball ton against New Zealand in Hamilton in 2009.

New Zealand scored 270 runs in a rain-affected 47-over game. India were cruising at 201/0 in 23.3 overs, when rain interrupted the play again, giving them an 84-run win via the DLS method.

Virender Sehwag was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 125 runs off 74 balls consisting 14 fours and six sixes.

1. Virat Kohli – 52 balls vs Australia, Jaipur, 2013

Modern-day great Virat Kohli holds the record of scoring the fastest hundred for India in ODI cricket. He continued his excellent form against Australia in 2013 by smashing a record 52-ball hundred at Nagpur.

Chasing 351-run target, Kohli smashed an unbeaten 115 off 66 balls including 18 fours and a six. India won the game by four wickets and he was named Player of the Match for his knock.
