Only three Indian batsmen have scored a century against England in T20I cricket.
India and England stand as the two of the most dominant teams in T20I cricket. They are two of the three nations who have won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup twice.
Both teams also share a strong rivalry in T20I cricket. England defeated India by 10 wickets in semi-finals of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide and then two years later, India knocked the out of 2024 edition of the tournament, where they defeated them in the semi-finals. Coincidentally, both of them won the respective tournaments.
The India-England rivalry has seen some high-scoring matches. In this article, we will look at the top five highest scores by Indian batsmen against England in T20I cricket.

5. Virat Kohli – 77*, Ahmedabad, 2021
Indian captain Virat Kohli registered an unbeaten 77-run knock against England in Ahmedabad in 2021.
Batting first, India faced an early collapse, ending the powerplay at 24/3. Kohli then built a 70-run partnership with Hardik Pandya, helping India reach a total of 156 runs. Kohli’s innings included eight fours and four sixes.
Despite his valiant efforts. India lost the game by eight wickets.
4. Virat Kohli – 80*, Ahmedabad, 2021
Virat Kohli top-scored for India in the fifth T20I of England’s tour of India 2021 in Ahmedabad with an unbeaten knock 80 runs. Opening the innings, he added 94 runs with Rohit Sharma and then formed an 81-run partnership with Hardik Pandya for the third wicket.
His knock of 80 runs off 52 balls included seven fours and two sixes. India won the game comfortably by 36 runs and Kohli was named Player of the Series for scoring 231 runs in five innings.
3. Rohit Sharma – 100*, Bristol, 2018
Rohit Sharma starred for India in the third T20I of India’s tour of England 2018 in Bristol. Rohit’s innings helped the visitors chase down the mammoth 199-run target with seven wickets.
His unbeaten knock of 100 runs off 56 balls included 11 fours and five sixes. This remarkable century helped India win the three-match series 2-1. Rohit was named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
2. KL Rahul – 101*, Manchester, 2018
Indian middle-order batsman KL Rahul registered an impressive ton in the first T20I of India’s tour of England 2018 in Manchester. After dismissing England for 159 runs in the first innings, Rahul’s unbeaten 101-run knock helped India win the game by eight wickets.
Rahul’s innings included 10 fours and five sixes. He added 123 runs with Rohit Sharma for the second wicket. Rahul was named Player of the Match for his efforts.
1. Suryakumar Yadav – 117, Nottingham, 2022
Suryakumar Yadav holds the record for highest individual score by an Indian batsman against England in T20Is with his 117-run knock in 2022 at Nottingham.
Surya’s stunning century came in the third T20I of India’s tour of England in 2021. Chasing a target of 216, Surya kept India in the game with a fiery knock consisting of 14 fours and six sixes.
Despite his efforts, India lost the game by 17 runs due to a batting collapse.
