The MCG pitch has changed a lot over the last few years. Once known for its good batting surface, it has undergone significant changes with the introduction of drop-in pitches and is now a fast-bowling paradise.

5. Rahul Dravid – 263 runs
Rahul Dravid is considered one of the greatest Indian batters to grace the game. Dravid boasts a good record at the MCG, with 263 runs in four tests at an average of 33, including two half-centuries.
Dravid’s best performance at the venue came in 2003, when he amassed 92 runs in the first innings to propel India to a total of 366 runs.
4. Virender Sehwag – 280 runs
Former India opener Virender Sehwag scored 280 runs at MCG at an average of 70 in two tests. Known for his aggressive stroke play, Sehwag enjoyed the true bounce of this venue.
His highest score at this ground came in 2003 when he destroyed the Australian bowling attack by hammering 195 runs in 233 balls. He scored 67 runs in India’s first innings of the 2011 test here.
3. Virat Kohli – 316 runs
Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has a spectacular record against Australia across formats. In test cricket, he is the second-leading scorer for India against Australia.
After playing three tests at the MCG, Kohli has scored 316 runs at an average of 52.66, including one century and two half-centuries. His highest individual score at the venue came in 2014 when he smacked 169 runs to lead India to 465 runs in the first innings.
2. Ajinkya Rahane – 369 runs
One of the most underrated Indian batters of the past decade, Ajinkya Rahane has fared brilliantly at the MCG. Rahane played three tests at the venue between 2014 and 2020 and scored 369 runs at an average of 73.8 with two centuries.
Rahane’s highest individual score on this ground came in 2014 when he slammed 147 off 171 balls to stitch an unforgettable 262-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the fourth wicket.
Perhaps his best overseas century also came at this venue when in the 2020 test, his 112-run knock helped India win the test.
1. Sachin Tendulkar – 449 runs
Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the most runs at MCG in test cricket by an Indian batsman. Tendulkar’s tally at the venue is 449 runs in five tests at an average of 44.9 with one century and three half-centuries.
His only test ton in Melbourne came in 1999 when he scored a sensational 116 off 191 balls to steer India to a competitive total of 238 runs in the first innings.
