Top 6 Indian batsmen with most sixes in an innings in T20I cricket

Only four Indian batsmen have hit 10 or more sixes in an innings in T20I cricket.
India stand as one of the biggest powerhouses in T20I cricket. Once known for their conservative batting approach in this format, they have completely shifted to a more aggressive style in T20Is.
Having won two ICC Men’s T20 World Cup titles, India have produced some of the most destructive T20 batters over the past 18 years, including Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, and Hardik Pandya, among others. These batsmen have forged some stellar knocks.
On that note, let’s take a look at top six Indian batsmen who have hit the most sixes in an innings in T20I cricket.

6. Sanju Samson – 9 sixes vs South Africa, Johannesburg, 2024
Sanju Samson finally showed consistency in T20I cricket in 2024. Opening the innings, he played a brilliant knock of 109* off 56 balls against South Africa in Johannesburg. His knock included six fours and nine sixes.
The Kerala cricketer added 210 runs for the second wicket with Tilak Varma, helping India reach a total of 283 runs. Thanks to a solid bowling performance in the second innings, the visitors won the game by 135 runs.
5. Suryakumar Yadav – 9 sixes vs Sri Lanka, Rajkot, 2023
Making his international debut in 2021, Suryakumar Yadav quickly established himself as one of the mainstays in T20I cricket.
Yadav’s third T20I century came against Sri Lanka in Rajkot in 2023, where he scored an unbeaten 112 off 51 balls, including nine massive sixes. His heroics helped India reach a daunting 228-run total. India ultimately won the game by 91 runs and Suryakumar was named Player of the Match.
4. Tilak Varma – 10 sixes vs South Africa, Johannesburg, 2024
Tilak Varma scored a second consecutive T20I century against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2024.
Known for his ability to rotate the strike and play the anchor role, Tilak introduced the world to his power-hitting skills by smashing 10 sixes in his unbeaten 107-run innings.
3. Sanju Samson – 10 sixes vs South Africa, Durban, 2024
Sanju Samson was at his best against South Africa in the Durban T20I in 2024, smashing a 107 runs off 50 balls.
His innings, which included seven fours and 10 sixes, helped India win the game convincingly by 61 runs. He was named Player of the Match for his terrific efforts.
2. Rohit Sharma – 10 sixes vs Sri Lanka, Indore, 2017
Former India captain Rohit Sharma was imperious against Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the 2017 series.
Opening the innings on a batting-friendly wicket in Indore, Rohit played a fantastic knock of 118 runs off 43 balls, which included 12 fours and 10 sixes, helping India set a total of 260 runs in the first innings. Rohit also hit the fastest T20I ton by an Indian batter in this match in just 35 deliveries.
The hosts ultimately sealed the game by 88 runs.
1. Abhishek Sharma – 13 sixes vs England, Mumbai, 2025
Abhishek Sharma holds the record of hitting most sixes in a T20I innings by an Indian batter. The southpaw created history by smashing 13 sixes against England in Mumbai in 2025.
India made a strong start in their innings, posting 95/1 in the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma starred for the hosts, scoring 135 off 54 balls, his knock including seven fours and 13 sixes. It helped India reach 247 runs and eventually win by 150 runs. In the innings, Abhishek registered the second-fastest fifty and hundred by an Indian batter, and also the highest individual score by an Indian batter in T20Is.
