Top 5 Indian batsmen with most sixes in T20I cricket
Only three Indian batsmen have hit over 100 sixes in T20I cricket.
India are arguably the most successful T20I team of all time. They have recorded the highest number of T20I victories (154) and their win/loss ratio of 2.231 is the best among teams who have played at least 100 T20Is.
India are one of the three teams to have won the men’s ICC T20 World Cup twice, with West Indies and England being the other two.
This success of the Men In Blue in the shortest format has significantly come on the back of their superstar batsmen who have piled up huge amounts of runs. The world-famous Indian batsmen have entertained the fans with their blistering hitting and jaw-dropping sixes.
In this article, we will look at the five Indian batsmen who have cracked the most sixes in T20I cricket.
Top five Indian batsmen with the most sixes in T20I cricket:
5. Hardik Pandya – 81
Hardik Pandya made his T20I debut in 2016 and quickly cemented his place in India’s first-choice XI as the seam-bowling all-rounder. His T20I career hit its peak in 2024 as he produced terrific all-round performances during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, helping India clinch the title.
With the bat, Pandya has smoked 81 sixes so far in 80 innings.
4. KL Rahul – 99
Once a regular part of the T20I team, KL Rahul now finds himself out of favour in the T20I setup. Rahul played 72 T20Is between 2016 and 2022 and mostly batted in the top three.
He cracked 99 sixes in 68 T20I innings. He was dropped from the shortest format after the T20 World Cup 2022 due to his outdated T20 game as he failed to work on his intent and strike rate.
3. Virat Kohli – 124
Virat Kohli is hailed as the greatest batsman in the men’s T20 World Cup history and is the only player to win the Man of the Tournament award twice in this competition.
After winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, in which he played a match-winning knock in the final, Kohli retired with 4188 runs under his belt in T20I cricket, scoring at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 137 with one century and 38 fifties.
Kohli smashed 124 sixes in 117 T20I innings.
2. Suryakumar Yadav – 139
One of the best T20 batsmen in the world, Suryakumar Yadav has had a sensational T20I career so far: average of 42 and strike rate of 168. After only 69 innings, Suryakumar has walloped 139 sixes, which is the second-most for India and the fourth-most in the world in this format.
Suryakumar started his T20I career in 2021 with a hook six to Jofra Archer on his first ball in international cricket. He’s not stopped hitting sixes since then.
1. Rohit Sharma – 205
Former India captain Rohit Sharma is the greatest T20I six-hitter. In 151 T20I innings, Sharma hit 205 sixes, the batsman with the most sixes in T20I cricket and is the only player to hit over 200 sixes in the shortest international format so far.
Rohit led India to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 triumph and announced his retirement after that. He finished his T20I career with 4231 runs. He also notched up five T20I centuries, the joint-most with Glenn Maxwell.
