Three Indian batsmen have scored T20I centuries against England.
The India-England rivalry has turned out as one of the most fierce contests in T20I cricket. Both teams have some of the game’s legendary players, including MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes among others.
The India-England rivalry has been marked by its unpredictable nature. While England knocked India out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals with a win by 10 wickets, India responded in the 2024 edition with a 68-run victory in the semi-final. Eventually, both of the nations won the respective finals and clinched their respective second T20 World Cup titles.

5. MS Dhoni – 296 runs
Legendary wicket-keeper batter MS Dhoni scored 296 T20I runs against England in 14 games at an excellent average of 49.33.
Dhoni was at the non-striker’s end when Yuvraj Singh hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during the 2007 T20 World Cup. Dhoni also scored one half-century against England, which was a knock of 56 runs in Bengaluru in 2017.
4. Hardik Pandya – 302 runs
Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the most decisive players in the shortest format. He has scored 302 runs against England at a strike rate of 152, having played 15 matches against them in his career.
His tally includes two half-centuries. His best performance against the Three Lions came in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals in Adelaide, where he scored 63 runs, helping India reach a competitive total in the first innings. However, India lost that game.
3. Suryakumar Yadav – 321 runs
India’s current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who has been a late bloomer in international cricket, makes this list. Surya has scored a total of 321 runs against England in T20Is at a strike rate of 179.
Surya’s impressive record against England includes one century and one half-century in eight matches. His standout performance came in 2022 at Nottingham, where he scored a stunning 117 off just 55 balls, hitting 14 fours and six sixes.
2. Rohit Sharma – 467 runs
Regarded as one of India’s biggest match-winners in limited overs cricket, Rohit Sharma finished his career with 467 T20I runs against England at an average of 36.
Rohit’s most memorable innings against England came at Bristol in 2018 where he guided India to a remarkable series win, with his knock of 100*.
Additionally, he has also scored three T20I half-centuries against the Three Lions.
1. Virat Kohli – 648 runs
Modern-day great Virat Kohli has scored most runs by an Indian batsman against England in T20I cricket. Kohli amassed a total of 648 runs against England at an excellent batting average of 38.11. His impressive record includes five half-centuries.
His standout performance came during the fifth T20I of the 2021 series, where he scored 80 runs in the first innings of the game , that helped India secure a 36-run victory.
