Indian Cricket Team (Men's) at Asian Games 2023: Squad, schedule, timings, venues, when and where to watch
Indian Cricket Team (Men's) will begin their Asian Games campaign in the Quarter-final round.
Fans can witness the cricketing action in the biggest Asian sports carnival for the third time in history. Cricket was first introduced in the Asian Games in 2010 played in Guangzhou. The Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams will also be fighting for the glorious gold medal in Hangzhou this year. With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 also being scheduled around the same time, The Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to send a second-string squad for the tournament. This will be the third time in the history of Indian cricket that two international teams will participate in two different tournaments simultaneously.
Along with India, other full member nations like Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will all field a second-string men's squad as they all will be taking part in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. They will start their campaign after the group round is done and dusted.
Team India will be entering the competition under a young inexperienced skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. This will be his first ever assignment as Indian captain in a big event. While most of the main players will be busy with the World Cup 2023, BCCI is looking to try out young names.
Along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, most of the top-performers in the Indian Premier League have been awarded a place in the Indian squad. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, and Prabhsimran Singh are in the 15-member squad that will be travelling as an Asian Games contingent from India. India will begin their Asian Games 2023 campaign on 3rd October in the knockout round. India will be playing the quarter-final to start, the team playing India will be decided after the group round matches will be over.
