Indian Cricket Team started their ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle on a positive note.
India drew their five-match test series against England 2-2 on Monday, marking a strong start to their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 campaign. After clinching the second test in Birmingham, the Shubman Gill-led side followed it up with a thrilling six-run victory at The Oval to level the series.
Shubman Gill led from the front in his maiden stint as test captain, amassing 754 runs in five matches, including four centuries and a double ton — all in the absence of senior stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin. He was ably supported by his teammates, who rose to the occasion and delivered a memorable test series.
India have a healthy mix of home games and away series in the upcoming period in test cricket, and now let’s see which is Shubman Gill and Co.’s next test assignment.
When will Indian Cricket Team play their next test match?

India’s next test challenge comes in October, when they host the West Indies for a two-match series. The first test will be played in Ahmedabad from October 2 to 6, followed by the second in Delhi from October 10 to 14. With the ICC WTC cycle still in its early stages, these matches will be crucial for India to secure a strong foothold on the points table.
India will enjoy an extended home run in 2025, as they’re set to host reigning ICC WTC champions South Africa for two more tests later in the year. This series kicks off in Kolkata on November 14 and moves to Guwahati on November 22 — marking the first-ever test in the Assam city. These will be India’s final games of 2025 in the longest format of the game, offering the team a valuable window to assess their ICC WTC progress before entering the new year.
