The Indian cricket team have lost their first-ever home test series against New Zealand.
The Indian cricket team had been having a great 2024 – they had won a test match in Cape Town, defeated England at home, won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and defeated Bangladesh at home – until New Zealand handed them their first-ever home test series whitewash in a series of three or more tests.
New Zealand not only registered their maiden test series win on Indian soil, but also won the series 3-0, sending shockwaves through the Indian cricket team and their fans as their home fortress was not only breached but dismantled completely.
This series result also meant that India slipped from the No. 1 spot in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings, and now are under a serious threat of not making it to the final at Lord’s next year.
Which is the Indian cricket team’s next series?
The Indian cricket team have two more international series left in 2024: a T20I series in South Africa and a test series in Australia.
The T20I squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav will fly to South Africa, to feature in a four-match series, while the test squad will fly to Australia for a five-match test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
When is the Indian cricket team’s next match?
India’s next international match is the first of the four T20Is against South Africa on November 8.
