Indian Cricket Team (Women's) at Asian Games: Squad, schedule, timings, venues, when and where to watch
Indian Cricket Team (Women's) will begin their Asian Games campaign in the Quarter-final round.
The women’s cricket competition has already begun at the biggest Asian sports exhibition. This will be the third time in history that Asian Games will host cricket as well. India denied playing on the first two occasions due to prior commitments, but in the ongoing Asian Games 2023, they decided to aim for glory and take part in the biggest Asian sports spectacle. The BCCI decided to send a second-string men's squad due to the dates clashing with ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, but in the women's team, all their stars will feature and take on the best teams in Asian Games.
Harmanpreet Kaur will miss the opening game
All-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur was announced as the captain of Team India. Unfortunately, she can only participate if India qualifies for the finals. Harmanpreet Kaur was handed a two-match ban after her angry outburst at the umpires and Bangladesh captain. ICC penalised Harmanpreet Kaur for her actions during and after the game. In her absence, Smriti Mandhana will be leading the charge, as she was appointed vice-captain of the team.
Women’s team have already arrived in China and will be playing their first game in the event as a knock-out. India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have already qualified for the quarter-finals, as they are all full members of ICC and ACC. Team India will enter with full might in this event, as they have all their star players along with them travelling to Hangzhou, China.
