There have been many Indian players who have had success at the highest level. But, only a few of them showed the longevity it takes to play over 500 matches for the team at the highest level.
In this article we will cover the elite list, which will feature Indian men’s cricketers with most appearances at the international level. So far, there have been only five Indian cricketers, who have played above 500 internationals.

5. Rohit Sharma – 500

Famously known as “Hitman,” Rohit Sharma is the latest and fifth Indian with 500 or more international appearances. He played his 500th international match for India when he made his comeback in national colours in 2025.
Rohit has had an incredible career for India, where he has shown his authority across all formats. Since making his debut in 2007, he has played 500 games and has scored close to 20000 runs and 49 centuries. He also won two ICC trophies as captain.
4. Rahul Dravid – 504

Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid was India’s key batter across formats in the late 1990s and 2000s. He had been part of many wins for India at the highest level. Dravid played 504 matches for India between 1996 and 2012 and was part of 216 wins. Dravid retired with 24064 runs at an average of 45.57 with 48 centuries and 145 half-centuries.
3. MS Dhoni – 535

MS Dhoni had a massive impact on the Indian cricket team. He was only the second captain to lead India to the ICC ODI World Cup trophy after the wait of 28 years. He won all three ICC white-ball trophies, which no other international captain has achieved yet.
Dhoni was part of 535 international matches for India between 2004 and 2019, which included 295 wins. Dhoni scored 17092 runs at a healthy average of 44.74 with 15 centuries and 108 half-centuries.
2. Virat Kohli – 551

Virat Kohli has reached the fag end of his career, but he has been the true ambassador of not only Indian cricket, but also world cricket. He has a career that many cricketers would dream about. From winning matches to taking India to trophies, he has achieved everything that one can think of.
Virat made his debut in 2008 and has played 551 international matches so far. He has scored over 27500 runs at an average well over 50. He also has 82 centuries and 143 half-centuries.
1. Sachin Tendulkar – 664

Making an international debut at the young age of 16 and taking on the best bowling generation that the game has ever seen, that is what defines Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin was the reason that countless Indians took up this sport, and he was the master of what he did.
Playing for three decades is something not many have achieved. Sachin played 664 international matches (most ever) between 1989 and 2013. He scored 34357 runs (most ever), scored 100 centuries (most ever) and 164 half-centuries (most ever).
