Full list of Indian cricketers to be conferred with the Padma Shri award

A total of 40 Indian cricketers have been conferred with the Padma Shri award.
The Padma Shri is India’s fourth-highest civilian award, after the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, and Padma Bhushan.
Started on 2 January 1954, the Padma Shri is given to honour distinguished contributions in various fields like arts, education, industry, literature, science, acting, medicine, social service, and public affairs. The Government of India presents the award every year on Republic Day of India (26th January).
Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin became the latest entrant in the list of Indian cricketers to be conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award. The honour came just weeks after his international cricket retirement.
Former captain Vijay Hazare was the first ever Indian cricketer to be conferred with the Padma Shri, way back in 1960. Since then, 37 men’s cricketers and three women’s cricketers have received the award.
