Indian men's cricket team leaves for Asian Games in China

India will play its first match on October 3, directly in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Indian men’s cricket team flew off to China for the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou from Mumbai airport. This will be the first time India are participating in cricket event at Asian Games. Women’s cricket team already performed well and defeated Sri Lanka in the finals to win the gold medal.
Indian team will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and consist of IPL performers who have excelled in the T20 league. Other notable players in Indian cricket team for Asian Games include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh.
Sports Authority of India (SAI) shared a few pictures on X (formerly Twitter) from the team’s departure as they were given a warm send-off.
#TeamIndia have taken off from Mumbai airport, bound for Hangzhou, for their much-anticipated campaign at the #AsianGames2022,” the post read.

Men’s event in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China
Asian Games 2023, which are now taking place in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China, from September 23 to October 8, include cricket. Men's cricket competition at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou will include 14 teams. On October 7, the bronze and gold medal contests will take place.
The top five seeds, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, will directly begin their campaigns from the quarter-finals. The nine remaining teams will compete in a group stage format, where they have been placed into three groups of three teams each.
The top eight stages will there after include the three group winners as well as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
Indian cricket team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad will play their first match of the tournament on Tuesday, October 3. This will also be the first quarter-finals of the cricket edition of Asian Games 2023.
The matches will be broadcast by Sony Sports Network TV channels in India. Live streaming of Asian Games 2023 cricket matches will be available on the Sony Liv app and website.
