Indian players to play 100 T20I games

Only four players have played 100 T20I games for the Indian Cricket Team.

T20I cricket is often dubbed as the most entertaining and thrilling format of the game. Over the years, many Indian players have toiled hard on the field and contributed to the national team in the shortest format.

While smacking a century or clinching a fifer is a challenging task for any player in T20I cricket, cementing their spot in the national team for a long time is even more difficult. In the past, many players have achieved the milestone of representing their national team in 100 T20I games.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik was the first-ever player to play 100 T20I games in 2018. Later, the record was replicated by numerous players. Among Indian players, only four have achieved this record in their careers, with only one of them crossing the milestone of 150 T20Is. On that note, below are four Indian players to play 100 matches in T20I cricket.

4. Rohit Sharma – 159 matches

Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma was the first player to play 100 T20I games for the Men-in-Blue. The right-handed batter achieved the milestone in November 2019 in a T20I series against Bangladesh.

Leading India in the absence of captain Virat Kohli, he reached the feat in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Before retiring from the shortest format in June 2024, Rohit featured in 159 T20Is and holds the record for playing the most T20I games for India. He is also the most capped player in T20I cricket overall.

3. Virat Kohli – 125 matches

Along with Rohit, Virat Kohli also pulled the curtains down on his T20I career after India’s victory in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. Kohli featured in 125 T20Is in his career and was the second Indian player after Rohit Sharma to reach the milestone of 100 games.

Overall, he was the 14th player to reach the mark. He played his 100th game against Pakistan in the T20 Asia Cup 2022.

2. Hardik Pandya – 125 matches

Unarguably, Hardik Pandya is the best seam all-rounder to ever play for India. During ICC T20 World Cup 2024, he bagged the record of playing his 100th encounter for India in the shortest format. After Rohit and Virat, he was the third Indian player to reach the achievement. He made his T20I debut in 2016.

1. Suryakumar Yadav- 100 matches

The India T20I captain captured the feat in the 1st T20I against New Zealand at Vidarbha International Cricket Stadium in Nagpur on January 21, 2026. Interestingly, the right-handed batsman reached the milestone within just five years, following his T20I debut in March 2021.
