Top 5 Indian wicket-keeper batters with most runs in test cricket

Two Indian wicket-keeper batters have mustered more than 3000 runs in test cricket.

The role of wicket-keeper is quite a challenging task in test cricket. A wicket-keeper batter is required to squat for numerous overs behind the stumps in a test match and also bat in both innings.

Over the years, many wicket-keeper batters cemented their spots in tests for Indian Cricket Team. Moreover, many of them also had lengthy careers in the longest format of the game. If we look at Indian wicket-keepers with the most test matches, MS Dhoni holds the record with 90 games.

Syed Kirmani is next on the list with 88 games in his kitty. Notably, only these two wicket-keeper batters have played more than 50 tests for the Indian Cricket Team so far. The next two members on the list are Kiran More (49) and Farokh Engineer (46).

Notably, no wicket-keeper batsman has reached the mark of 5000 runs for India in tests. Among the Indian wicket-keepers with the most runs in tests, only two have mustered more than 3000 runs. Four have piled up more than 2500 runs in test cricket. On that note, let’s glance at the top five Indian wicket-keeper batters with the most runs in tests.
