India will be in Group 1 of the Super 8s stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with South Africa, Zimbabwe and the West Indies.

Indian Cricket Team completed their T20 World Cup 2026 group stage with a spotless record. India started their tournament with a nervy win over the USA in Mumbai and had a similar win over Namibia in Delhi.

Pakistan were demolished in a one-sided encounter by India in Colombo, and then the Netherlands gave a fight to them but could not stop them from winning the match in Ahmedabad.

India have qualified for the Super 8 round, Group 1. They will face off against South Africa in their first game, will then face West Indies, and Zimbabwe will be their last opponents in the Super 8 stage.

Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav have led the way when it comes to scoring runs, while Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube have starred as all-rounders. Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel lead the way with the ball, along Jasprit Bumrah in the pace department.

However, some players tried their best but were disappointed in the group stage with either the bat or the ball.

3. Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh came into the T20 World Cup 2026 with a brilliant outing against South Africa and New Zealand. This included his career-best figures of 5/51 against the Black Caps, and much was expected from the left-arm Punjab pacer. However, the pacer has disappointed with the ball.

Usually known for taking a wicket in his first over itself, Arshdeep has struggled to take wickets with either the new ball or in the death overs. He has picked up only 3 wickets at an economy of 7.60 in 3 games in the tournament. He was taken for runs against Namibia and went wicketless against the Netherlands.

2. Tilak Varma

Next comes Tilak Varma. Varma had missed the Indian team’s last T20I series before the T20 World Cup 2026 due to a testicular torsion for which he had to undergo surgery. He made his return in the T20 World Cup warm-up game and has batted at no. 3 in all four games thus far.

However, he scored 25 runs each against the USA, Namibia, and Pakistan and made 31 against the Netherlands. He has looked good, but the concern has been his strike rate, as his 106 runs have come at a strike rate of 120.45, and he has hit 11 fours and 3 sixes. He has not been able to carry on the momentum and has found himself stuck against spinners, even on a belter pitch like the Netherlands.

1. Abhishek Sharma

India opener Abhishek Sharma has had a horror run in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. He has scored three ducks in the three games he has played. Abhishek suffered from a stomach bug and was unwell for some time, but played in the tournament opener in Mumbai.

He missed the game against Namibia as he was hospitalised for his illness. However, his fortunes didn’t change as he couldn’t open his account against Pakistan and the Netherlands. His mode of dismissals has been the same, with the off-spinners getting him out, trying to hit the big shot. Abhishek will need to come good if India want to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC event.

How many runs has Abhishek Sharma scored in the T20 World Cup 2026?
