India are set to face West Indies in their last Super 8 game of T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, March 1.

India will face West Indies in a Super 8 clash of T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, March 1. This match could be the most important fixture of Group 1, as it will decide which team advances to the semifinals. Both teams have won one match so far in Group 1 and lost their respective matches to South Africa by big margins.

This clash between India and West Indies has now become a virtual quarterfinal, which will determine the last semifinalist of the T20 World Cup 2026. Both teams won all their matches in the group stage before suffering one defeat each in the Super 8 stage.

The last time India faced West Indies in a T20 World Cup was in 2016, when they met in a semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The star-studded West Indies side won the game by successfully chasing a massive total of 192. Virat Kohli starred for India, scoring an unbeaten 89 runs and taking one wicket, but it was not enough to stop the powerful West Indies team.

They went on to reach the final and defeated England to lift the title. On that note, let’s take a look at India’s overall record against West Indies in T20 World Cups.

They met again in 2010, where West Indies once again came out on top, with Chris Gayle starring with a blistering 98-run knock. They faced each other four years later in 2014, and it is the only match in the rivalry that India won. India chased down a target of 129 in 19.4 overs, with both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scoring fifties.

Their next meeting came in the 2016 T20 World Cup semifinal. Batting first, India posted 192 runs, with Kohli scoring an unbeaten 89. West Indies lost an early wicket but then built a strong partnership, while India made some costly mistakes in the form of no-balls.
