A brilliant team performance led India women to a famous series win in Australia. The women in blue beat the Aussies by 17 runs in the 3rd T20I at Adelaide on Saturday, February 21. With a 2-1 victory in the T20 series, India took the lead in this multi-format series.
India women put pressure on Australia with their excellent batting and high total, making the home team’s chase extremely difficult. After Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bat first in the decider, Jemimah Rodrigues (59) scored a solid half-century and vice captain Smriti Mandhana hit a stylish 55-ball 82.
India reached 176/6 in 20 overs, thanks to the century run partnership between Smriti and Jemimah. Australia women were limited to 159/9 in response, with Shreyanka Patil and Sree Charani taking three wickets each.

The Mithali Raj-led side had won a 2-1 series in 2016 when India women won their first-ever T20I series victory against Australia. This series victory will give the Indian women’s cricket team a much-needed boost of confidence before the ODI series and the Test match and the big T20 World Cup 2026 in June.
The India continue their dominance in world cricket. This series win comes after the famous ICC Cricket World Cup win on home soil. India women also defeated Sri Lanka women in the T20I series post the mega tournament. They swept the neighbours with a 5-0 T20I series whitewash.
With the series victory, now the attention turns to the ODI series starting February 24. The fans will hope that the team carries the momentum in the 50-over format as well.
