Injury update on Shardul Thakur after being hit on shoulder ahead of 2nd SA vs IND test

Shardul Thakur was part of the Indian playing XI in the first test in Centurion.

Indian pace-bowler Shardul Thakur is fit and doing well after being hit on his left-shoulder during a net session. Shardul is doing perfectly fine and ready for the second test at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. Shardul was part of the Indian playing XI against South Africa in the first test match played at Supersport Park in Centurion.

India suffered a heavy defeat in the first test as the hosts South Africa defeated India by an innings and 32 runs in the first of the two-match test series. Shardul was picked as India’s 4th seamer option along with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. India’s pace attack had a poor performance against the South African batting lineup and conceded 408 runs in Centurion.

‘No problem’ with Shardul Thakur

After being hit on his left shoulder, Shardul Thakur was not advised to go for any scans or any treatment. He resumed his net session after a while and this gave a big relief to the Indian team, who already have been hit with multiple injury concerns. A source close to the Indian camp informed, “There’s no problem at all” with the Indian pace bowler who failed to make an impact on the first test.

This incident occurred while Shardul was facing throwdowns from a member of the Indian support staff in Centurion. Only 8 Indian players took part in the optional practice session on Saturday including captain Rohit Sharma, Ravi Ashwin, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, and KS Bharat.

Team India will be taking a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town on Sunday and will begin their preparations for the second test in Cape Town. The second test will begin on 3rd January at Newlands Stadium. Team India once again failed to win a test series in South African soil, but they still have an opportunity to draw the series 1-1.
