IPL 2023: Revealed: Why Gujarat Titans are wearing new 'Lavender' colour jersey vs SRH today
Gujarat Titans are playing their last home fixture of the IPL 2023 league stage tonight against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Gujarat Titans are taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans will make this encounter special by wearing a different colour jersey than usual. Gujarat Titans will wear a lavender colour jersey to spread awareness against Cancer. Franchise has started an initiative to spread awareness about chronic diseases like cancer. Normally, GT wear a gray shade jersey and they have been a successful team in the Indian Premier League since they have taken their first step in the tournament. Gujarat Titans made their entry into this league in 2022 and went on to win the championship.
The Lavender colour ribbon symbolizes all types of cancer and this made the franchise decide on a different colour than usual to wear against Men in Orange, Sunrisers Hyderabad. Gujarat Titans are in full hope of their campaign and they think this will create more awareness about cancer among everyone. This is Gujarat Titans' last league game of this season at home. Ahmedabad will host the IPL final on 28th May. One of Gujarat Titans' player Mathew Wade also fought against cancer at a young age. Later on, Wade said that it was his most difficult period.
India’s 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh also fought against Cancer for almost 2 years. Many sports persons and personalities have gone through the worst of periods in their fight against Cancer. Gujarat Titans are currently standing tall in the points table at number one with 16 points in 8 games. The Titans have also made sure their playoff berth is booked and they stay Number one or number two in the table.
