IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 13 & 14, GT vs KKR & SRH vs PBKS

Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their account with first win of the IPL 2023 against PBKS.

It was a super Sunday for the Indian Premier League fans. Fans witnessed two back to back tight games in the evening. In the first game of the day, Rinku Singh created history for Kolkata Knight Riders. Rinku Singh smashed 5 consecutive sixes on 5 balls of the last over to chase down 29 runs in the last over. Gujarat Titans gave KKR a target of 205 runs. KKR‘s chase went like roller-coaster in 20 overs. KKR after losing early wickets, came back strongly with Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana’s partnership. They both added 100 runs for the 3rd wicket to give KKR a chance in the game. Rashid Khan in the 15th over picked a hat trick to send Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur back into the dugout. This made KKR struggle once again, and finally in the last over Rinku Singh’s 5 consecutive sixes created history for KKR. They won the game by 3 wickets.

In the second game, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. It was a low scoring encounter at Hyderabad. Punjab's batters struggled against Mayank Markande who picked up 4 wickets in his 4 overs spell. Only Shikhar Dhawan was able to score against Hyderabad bowlers. Punjab scored 143 runs and lost 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Dhawan contributed 99 runs out of 143. Apart from Sam Curran (22) and Dhawan, no other batter could get past a single digit in the innings. Sunrisers Hyderabad also struggled initially to chase Punjab’s modest total. On a bowling friendly wicket, Punjab gave their best. But Rahul Tripathi (74) with his magnificent half century helped Hyderabad win their first game of the season. Captain Aiden Markram also scored 37 runs.

IPL 2023 Updated Points Table

With a historical win over Gujarat Titans, KKR have jumped to the second position in the points table. This was Kolkata’s second win of the season. After their defeat to Punjab Kings, they won back to back against RCB and Gujarat Titans respectively. Gujarat Titans are now in 4th position in the table. Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their account in the points table. With a win over Punjab, they earned two points and currently are at the 8th position. Punjab after the loss moved down to 6th place in the table. Rajasthan Royals are the table toppers after 3 games.

IPL 2023 Updated Orange cap holder:

Last evening at number 5, Punjab Captain Shikhar Dhawan with his 99 runs has overtaken everyone else and earned the Orange Cap. Shikhar Dhawan in 3 innings has scored 225 runs with a strike rate of 149. Dhawan has been scoring consistently in the IPL 2023. Ruturaj Gaikwad is in second place in the list of Top 5 with 189 runs. David Warner is third on the list with 158 runs. Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler is at 4th with 152 runs in 3 innings. Lucknow’s Kyle Mayers has moved down to 5th position with 139 runs in 3 innings.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap holder:

Gujarat Titans Rashid Khan picked up a hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders and also earned the purple. Rashid Khan with 8 wickets in 3 games is leading the purple cap race now. He picked up a hat-trick dismissing Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur. IPL 2022 Purple Cap winner Yuzvendra Chahal has continued his form in this season as well. Chahal is at second position with 8 wickets, while Lucknow pacer Mark Wood is at 3rd spot with 8 wickets. Ravi Bishnoi is in 4th place while Titans' pacer Alzarri Joseph is at 5th with 6 wickets each.

What's in IPL on Monday?

In the next game in the IPL 2023 Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to get back to winning ways in the league. KKR stunned the RCB batting in their last game. RCB lost the game by a huge margin of 81 runs. Lucknow had been in good form. They have got 4 points in their 3 games. Chinnaswamy Stadium will be hosting RCB vs LSG on Monday night. Earlier, RCB defeated Mumbai Indians at the same venue.
