Hosts RCB won against RR in the afternoon game, while visitors CSK defeated the hosts of the night game, KKR in Sunday's IPL 2023 double-header.

Chennai Super Kings had a run-fest at Eden Gardens against Kolkata Knight Riders. Chennai in a rare high-scoring encounter at Eden Gardens defeated Kolkata by 49 runs. CSK batters had a good picnic to enjoy their time in the middle. Almost everyone from the top to Number 5 went on to smash KKR bowlers all around the park. CSK smashed a total of 34 boundaries. After Ruturaj Gaikwad (35) and Devon Conway (56)’s 73 runs partnership, veteran Ajinkya Rahane impressed everyone with his unusual stroke play. Rahane played a quick-fire knock of 71 runs in 29 balls. Shivam Dube was also in some mood and smashed a fifty in just 20 balls. In his 21-balls short inning, he scored 50 runs smashing 2 fours and 5 towering sixes. Chennai gave Kolkata a mammoth 236 runs to chase. In response, KKR batting once again failed to perform. Apart from Jason Roy (61) and Rinku Singh (53*), no other batter could go on to set the momentum for a mammoth run chase.

In a close run chase at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rajasthan Royals lost the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 runs. They tried their best to come out victorious in the chase yet Harshal Patel’s brilliance and Royals' middle order failure made them lose their pole position in the points table. Glenn Maxwell with his 77 runs match-winning inning helped RCB get two important points in mid-season of the IPL 2023. Maxwell along with Faf du Plessis (62) had a big partnership of 127 runs to give Rajasthan a target of 190 runs. RCB Bowlers started well and they didn’t let RR’s top gun score big in numbers. For the Royals, Devdutt Padikkal (52) and Yashaswi Jaiswal (47) did well but could not write a winning script for their team. Dhruv Jurel had a magnificent cameo of 36 runs in 16 balls.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap holder:

Mohammed Siraj picked up an important wicket from Jos Buttler to give RCB a flying start in defending 189 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With that wicket, Siraj has also earned back the Purple Cap from Arshdeep Singh with 13 wickets. They both share the number of wickets but Siraj with a better economy is leading the Purple Cap race, while Arshdeep with 13 wickets is 2nd. Rajasthan Royals Yuzvendra Chahal has jumped up to 3rd place from 5th with a wicket against RCB. He has 12 wickets in the IPL 2023. Rashid Khan is at 4th place with 12 wickets, while CSK's Tushar Deshpande made his entry in the top 5, having taken 12 wickets.

What's in IPL on Monday?

On Monday night, two teams from the bottom of the table, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals will meet each other at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. It will be the first game for David Warner in Hyderabad since he left the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both teams are languishing at the bottom of the points table. Delhi after their opening win against KKR will look to carry on positively in this game as well. Hyderabad is also in need of a win to regain momentum.
