IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 53 between KKR & PBKS
Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Punjab Kings by 5 wickets to add 2 more points to their name in the IPL 2023 points table.
Once again Rinku Singh came as a saviour for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Rinku Singh (21) along with Andre Russell (42) chased down 56 runs in 28 balls. KKR defeated Punjab Kings by 5 wickets at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Eden Gardens wicket played brilliantly and assisted everyone. Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to bat first, he played a magnificent knock of 57 runs to anchor Punjab’s innings. Along with Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab’s finishers Shahrukh Khan (21) and Harpreet Brar (17) took the team’s score to a challenging 179. Varun Chakravarthy bowled superbly in his spell to take 3 wickets conceding 26 runs. Chasing 180, KKR had a decent start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz (15) and Jason Roy (38). After the opening wicket partnership, Captain Nitish Rana held the chase around him with his 51 runs knock. Later in the final overs, Andre Russell looked enjoying his promotion in the batting order. He smashed 42 runs in 23 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Rinku Singh also supported him nicely with 21 runs in 10 balls.

IPL 2023 Updated Orange Cap:
The orange cap race remained unchanged after Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings' clash. Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis is leading the orange cap list with 511 runs in 10 innings. Rajasthan Royals opener Yashaswi Jaiswal is in 2nd position with 477 runs in 11 innings. Shubhman Gill with his 94 not out against Lucknow has jumped up to 3rd place in this list. Gill has scored 469 runs in 11 innings. Chennai’s Devon Conway is 4th in the race with 458 runs in 20 innings. Conway has scored 5 half-centuries in the IPL 2023. Virat Kohli is 5th in the list with 419 runs in 10 innings.
IPL 2023 Updated Purple Cap:
Kolkata Knight Riders mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy picked up 3 wickets against Punjab. Varun with this spell has entered the top 5 list once again. Chakravarthy with 3/26, now has 17 wickets in 11 matches. Gujarat Titans' pacer Mohammed Shami is currently the purple cap holder with 19 wickets in 11 games. His teammate Rashid Khan is 2nd with 19 wickets, and Chennai’s Tushar Deshpande is 3rd in the race with 19 wickets as well. Mumbai Indians leg spinner Piyush Chawla is having a great season with the ball and he is 4th in this list with 17 wickets in 10 games.

It will be a clash of the Titans in the IPL 2023 on Tuesday when Mumbai Indians will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
