IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 60 & 61, RR vs RCB & CSK vs KKR

Both the hosts, RR and CSK faced defeats in hands of the visitors RCB and KKR on Sunday's double-header in the IPL 2023.

Kolkata Knight Riders' Rinku Singh has become a new rising star of the Indian Premier League. After losing 3 early wickets, KKR captain Nitish Rana (57*) and Rinku Singh (54) with a 99 runs stand for the 4th wicket chased down 145 runs at the dry Chepauk wicket. Wicket was dry and KKR spinners had a great run against CSK batters. Sunil Narine (2/15), Varun Chakravarthy (2/36), and pacer Shardul Thakur (1/15) kept Chennai quiet in the game. Shivam Dube with his 48 runs helped Chennai Super Kings give 145 runs target to KKR. Deepak Chahar (3/27) had a brilliant opening spell and he picked up 3 early wickets yet a dominating 4th wicket stand between Rinku and Nitish earned KKR a much-needed 6 wickets win over Chennai. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Rajasthan Royals by a huge margin of 112 runs. Rajasthan Royals batting surrendered against RCB and were bundled out on just 59 runs, scoring their 2nd lowest total. Batting first, RCB scored 171 runs, Anuj Rawat (29 runs in 11 balls) helped them reach above par score at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Faf du Plessis (55) and Glenn Maxwell (54) added 69 runs for the 2nd wicket and gave RCB a stable start. While chasing, Rajasthan Royals collapsed. Apart from Shimron Hetmyer (35), nobody could stay at the wicket for long. Wayne Parnell with his 3/10 spell ratted Royals. The Royals bundled out on just 59 runs total.

Kolkata Knight Riders with a brilliant chase on a dry Chapauk wicket kept themselves alive in the race for playoffs. Kolkata with a win over Chennai have jumped up one place to 7th with 12 points. Chennai Super Kings are still 2nd in the points table. In the afternoon, RCB registered one of their biggest victories in the IPL and they have put themselves in a comfortable position among Punjab, Rajasthan and Lucknow for the fight of playoffs. Bangalore have 12 points in 12 games. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are 6th and they have only one game left. Delhi Capitals are at the bottom of the table with 8 points.

IPL 2023 Updated Orange cap:

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis is in midas touch with the bat. How difficult the wicket turns out to be, He keeps scoring runs in the IPL 2023. Faf smashed his 7th half-century of this season. He scored 55 runs and added 69 runs with Glenn Maxwell for the second wicket. Faf du Plessis is currently the orange cap holder with 631. Yashaswi Jaiswal got out on a duck against RCB. Jaiswal is 2nd in the race with 575 runs. Chennai’s Devon Conway has jumped up to 3rd with his 30 runs knock against KKR. Conway has 498 runs. Suryakumar Yadav is 4th with 479, and Shubhman Gill is 5th with 475 runs.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap:

Varun Chakravarthy had a great game against Chennai Super Kings and picked up 2 wickets. Varun in his 4 overs conceded 36 runs and sent Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane back in the dugout. Varun Chakravarthy had made an entry in the top 5 once again. He is 5th in the list with 19 wickets. Gujarat Leg spinner Rashid Khan is currently the purple cap holder with 23 wickets. Rajasthan Royals' Yuzvendra Chahal is 2nd with 21 wickets. Mumbai’s Piyush Chawla is 3rd with 19 wickets. In a list dominated by spinners, Titans' pacer Mohammed Shami is 4th as a lone pace bowler in the top 5 with 19 wickets. 

What's in IPL on Monday?

Ahmedabad will host Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday night. Gujarat Titans are number one in the points table with 16 points in 11 games. Titans are going strong in their campaign in the IPL 2023. They have won 8 games out of 11 they have played and will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday. Hyderabad are placed 9th in the table with only 8 points in their 11 games. Titans will look to increase their lead in the table. The Top 2 teams will get another chance in Qualifier 2 if they lose the first one. Titans and Chennai Super Kings are currently the top 2 teams in the table.
