Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated SRH by 8 wickets to keep their IPL 2023 playoffs hopes alive.

It was a dominating chase by Royal Challengers Bangalore at Rajiv Gandhi International cricket stadium in Hyderabad. RCB have thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by huge 8 wickets. Virat Kohli smashed his 6th IPL century and helped RCB chase down the total comfortably. Virat Kohli (100) and captain Faf du Plessis (71) struck a 172 runs partnership to take a step forward for a place in the next round. SRH bowlers were tamed by Virat and Faf in their blistering partnership. Batting first, SRH put up 186 runs on the board, with the help of Heinrich Klassen’s century. Klassen with his hundred put SRH in a decent position but Virat and Faf’s master class in batting didn’t give them any chance.  Klassen’s 104 runs inning was not enough for SRH to win the game.

IPL 2023 Updated Points table:

Royal Challengers Bangalore have one foot in the playoffs with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. RCB with 14 points in 13 games have entered in the top 4. They are now placed 4th in the table and have an extra advantage of one game remaining. They will play their last game against Gujarat Titans on Sunday night. Sunrisers Hyderabad with another loss in their campaign are now placed 10th in the table with only 8 points. Gujarat Titans are top of the table with 18 points. Chennai Super Kings are 2nd with 15 points. Lucknow Super Giants are 3rd with 15 points. Royal Challengers Bangalore are 4th with 14 points.

IPL 2023 Updated Orange cap:

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis looks unbeatable in the orange cap race now. He smashed his 8th fifty of this season and increased his lead over number 2 Shubhman Gill by 126 runs. Faf du Plessis is currently the orange cap holder with 702 runs in 13 innings. This was his third consecutive half-century this season. Virat Kohli has also made his reentry into the top 5 with a magnificent 100. Virat with 538 runs is now 4th in the race. Titans Shubhman Gill is 2nd with 576 runs. Royals' opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is 3rd on the list with 575 runs. Chennai’s Devon Conway is 5th in the race with 498 runs.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap:

The Purple cap race remained unchanged during the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad encounter. Mohammed Shami is still enjoying donning the most prestigious bowling award in the league, the purple cap. Shami is leading the race with 23 points in 13 games. Shami’s teammate Rashid Khan is second on the list with 23 wickets in 13 games. Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will have an opportunity to get back the purple cap on Friday against Punjab Kings. Chahal is 3rd in the race with 21 wickets. Mumbai’s Piyush Chawla is 4th in the race with 20 wickets. Kolkata’s Varun Chakravarthy is 5th with 19 wickets.

What’s in the IPL on Friday?

A surprise loss against Delhi Capitals has put Punjab Kings in a lot of trouble for the playoff race in IPL 2023. Punjab Kings will take on Rajasthan Royals in Dharamshala in a virtual quarter-final game. Now, Rajasthan Royals have got more chances to qualify for the next round than Punjab Kings. Rajasthan registered big wins when the season began and have a better NRR than others who are sitting on 12 points, may prove a help if they manage to defeat Punjab Kings in their last league game. Rajasthan Royals collapsed badly against Royal Challengers Bangalore. They were bundled out on just 59 runs while chasing 183. They have to forget that last game before entering the field against Punjab. Punjab also had a disappointing game against Delhi Capitals.
