RR Vs CSK Preview: Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 3 runs in their first meet his season.

RR have lost their previous two matches and have won 4 out of the 7 matches they have played so far. Their most recent loss came against RCB by a margin of just 7 runs. In the upcoming match against CSK, whom they have already defeated once this season, they will be aiming to return to their winning ways.

CSK are currently in excellent form, having won their last match and secured 5 wins out of 7 matches so far. They had a convincing 49-run victory against KKR in their previous encounter and will aim to maintain their winning momentum against RR in the upcoming match to stay on top of the table.

Earlier this season, RR defeated CSK by 3 runs in a thrilling contest. Buttler, Padikkal, Ashwin, and Hetmyer played vital roles in RR's competitive total of 175/8. The RR spinners then picked up regular wickets in the middle overs and Sandeep Sharma defended 21 off the last over against MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. In response, CSK lost in-form Ruturaj Gaikwad early and RR's disciplined bowling kept them under pressure. They lost wickets regularly and despite late heroics from Dhoni and Jadeja, RR won by 3 runs.

RR Vs CSK: Pitch Report

The pitch at Sawai Mansingh Stadium has a greenish tinge, suggesting that pacers could extract some movement in the initial overs. Meanwhile, spinners are likely to have an advantage during the middle overs, given the large outfield. While batters may find it easier to play their shots with true bounce and a fast outfield once they are set, hitting sixes may be challenging, meaning players will need to focus on finding boundaries and running between the wickets.

RR Vs CSK: Team News

After their convincing victory against KKR in the last game, CSK are unlikely to make any changes to their winning combination and are expected to field the same team in the upcoming match against RR. If CSK bats first again then Akash Singh will come as an impact player in the second innings. Stephen Fleming, the Head Coach of CSK, has said a few days ago that Ben Stokes will be unavailable for yet another week due to his injury.

Despite losing two matches in a row by a narrow margin, RR is unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI and may choose to field the same team in the upcoming match against CSK.

RR Vs CSK: Players to watch

Rajasthan Royals: Jos Buttler

Despite scoring 244 runs in seven matches played this season, Jos Buttler's form has been inconsistent in recent games. In the last two innings, he failed to live up to his usual standards, scoring 40 runs off 41 balls, which is relatively slow for him, followed by a duck against RCB in the last match. Unfortunately, RR lost both of those matches. As Buttler's quick scoring is often critical to RR's success, he will be determined to regain his form in the upcoming match against CSK.

Chennai Super Kings: Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane is displaying exceptional form this season, having already scored 209 runs in just five matches played, at a strike rate of 199.05, which is not usually associated with his style of play. Nonetheless, he is performing effectively and making significant contributions to Chennai Super Kings'  scoring, as evidenced by their last match against KKR. CSK will undoubtedly be counting on Rahane to continue his impressive run of form and score quickly and significantly in the upcoming match against RR.
