Ishan Kishan last played for India in the five-match T20I series against Australia in November, 2023.

With the highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season just around the corner, Mumbai Indians players are gearing up for the challenge. In a recent development, star MI batter Ishan Kishan was spotted training alongside the team’s new captain Hardik Pandya in an intense gym session.

This training session comes amidst Kishan’s recent absence from the Indian national team. Ishan Kishan has been out of action since he pulled out of the test series against South Africa citing mental fatigue. The BCCI selectors didn’t consider Kishan for selection during the T20 series against Afghanistan. Kishan is also not part of India squad in the ongoing five-match test series against England.

Recently, the BCCI has advised all the Indian players who are fit and not on national duty, to play in the Ranji Trophy. The wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan didn’t turn up for Jharkhand and missed their matches.

Meanwhile, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who sustained an ankle injury during the ODI World Cup 2023, is also preparing intensely for the upcoming IPL 2024 season, where he will be leading the Mumbai Indians. It is to be noted that Hardik Pandya took over the MI captaincy from Rohit Sharma, who won a record-breaking five IPL trophies for the franchise during his leadership.

Amidst this, Ishan Kishan took to his official Instagram handle and shared a workout reel with his fans. Both Kishan and Hardik Pandya were seen pushing each other through a rigorous workout routine, focusing on strength and conditioning.

For Mumbai Indians, the duo’s training session signifies a positive development. Kishan, known for his explosive batting style, is a crucial player for the team’s batting line-up. Meanwhile, Pandya, taking over the rich captaincy reins from Rohit Sharma, brings valuable leadership experience and all-round skills to the table.

Mumbai Indians will play their first IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, 24 March 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
