IPL 2024: List of players released, retained by LSG ahead of auction, remaining purse details

Lucknow Super Giants have released 8 players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

IPL’s new entry Lucknow Super Giants have been a magnificent entry into the tournament. Lucknow have played in two playoffs but couldn’t manage to win the eliminator round. In 2022, Lucknow got thrashed by Royal Challengers Bangalore and in 2023, Chennai Super Kings outclassed Lucknow. Lucknow will be looking to break the jinx and go further in the tournament. Team mentor Gautam Gambhir parted ways with the team and joined Kolkata Knight Riders just a month before IPL mini-auction 2024. 

Lucknow Super Giants had a great run in the previous season and ended up in 3rd place on the points table. Lucknow won 8 out of the 14 league games in the tournament and had outclassed several opponents throughout their campaign. They were beaten by Mumbai Indians in the eliminator round by a huge margin of 81 runs. Lucknow will be looking to wash off the memories of the past two playoff losses and qualify further in the league. 

As Lucknow Super Giants will be going in with a new support staff,  They might have a different strategy in IPL mini-auction 2024. Under KL Rahul’s leadership, Lucknow might look at strengthen their batting-order as this was the only aspect where Lucknow lacked behind. Lucknow Super Giants scored just 101 runs in the eliminator game against Mumbai Indians while chasing 182 runs total at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. IPL mini-auction will be held in Dubai on 19th December.
