West Indies bowler Shamar Joseph will get INR 3 crores in his first ever IPL contract.

Lucknow Super Giants have replaced fast bowler Mark Wood with West Indies pacer Shamar Jospeph for the upcoming IPL 2024. Joseph made an impactful debut for West Indies in second of the two-match test series against Australia. Joseph bowled a defining spell in the second innings at Gabba to guide West Indies to a historic win over Australia.

Shamar Joseph will get INR 3 crores in his first IPL contract. Mark Wood was part of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023. Wood’s availability for the upcoming IPL 2024 is still uncertain, which is why LSG have named a replacement for him. Wood played four games for LSG in IPL 2023 before getting ruled out due to elbow injury. Wood picked 11 wickets in four games for LSG last season.

Shamar Joseph to earn 3 Crore INR

The Indian Premier League officially released a statement confirming Shamar Joseph’s maiden entry into the Indian Premier League. IPL release stated, “Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) named Shamar Joseph as a replacement for pacer Mark Wood for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Joseph will join LSG for INR 3 Crore… This will be Joseph’s first stint in the IPL.”

The Lucknow Super Giants also welcomed Shamar Joseph with a social media post. LSG handles posted an image of Joseph celebrating one of his test wickets. Joseph picked up seven wickets in the Gabba test recently to help West Indies script a historic win over Australia by 8 runs.

As per reports from ESPNCricinfo, Mark Wood will be skipping the IPL 2024 to manage his workload. The T20 World Cup will be played right after the IPL 2024. Shamar Joseph will be a valuable addition to the Lucknow camp. Like Wood, Joseph also loves to relentlessly attack batters with pace and short balls. Joseph has played only two T20I games and went wicketless on both occasions.
