IPL 2024: Everything ok in Mumbai Indians camp? Rohit Sharma missing from Alibaug video
Indian Cricket Team skipper & five-time IPL winner Rohit Sharma was replaced by Hardik Pandya as the Mumbai Indians captain earlier this year.
Mumbai Indians (MI) are one of the most successful sides in the Indian Premier League (IPL). MI have won the IPL title for a record five times along with Chennai Super Kings. After 10 years of Rohit Sharma’s reign in the camp, Mumbai will see a major change in their setup. All-rounder Hardik Pandya will be leading the side in IPL 2024.
There has been speculation among the media and fans that this move has brought some tension and awkwardness in the MI dressing room. Fans are miffed with the management for discarding Rohit Sharma in a poor way. With just a few days to go for the action to begin, the Mumbai Indians have found a new way to regroup.
Mumbai Indians in Alibaug
The entire Mumbai Indians setup has travelled to Alibaug for a team bonding session, but according to a news report in the Hindustan Times, Rohit Sharma was not seen in the MI video. A video of MI’s travel was accessed by the Hindustan Times, where they have reported that most of the players were part of the trip but Sharma was not spotted in the video.
HT also reported that Rohit Sharma may have missed the trip to Alibaug with the Mumbai Indians side. The rest of the squad has checked into a hotel in Alibaug, but Sharma was missing. Along with the former skipper, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, middle-order batter Tilak Varma and Dewald Brewis were also missing from the ferry ride to Alibaug from Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India.
Earlier in a press conference, both captain Pandya and coach Mark Boucher avoided questions on Rohit Sharma. Boucher was asked for the logic behind ousting Rohit from the leadership, but choose to remain tight-lipped on the matter. Mumbai Indians will open their campaign against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
