Tanush Kotian recently was part of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy winning campaign.

Just a few days ahead of the IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered a major setback when leg-spinner Adam Zampa pulled out of the entire season citing personal reasons. Zampa will be a notable absentee from the RR camp as the side depends heavily on their spinners. RR have now announced replacement for Zampa.

Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy 2023-24 hero Tanush Kotian will be replacing Zampa in RR squad for the season. Off-spinner Kotian had a terrific campaign for Mumbai during their 42nd Ranji Trophy title win in the recently concluded season. He will be joining RR for his base price for Rs. 20 lakh. He will join the Royals camp ahead of their opening clash.

IPL official website confirmed the same news through a media release and stated, “Tanush Kotian, who recently made solid all-round contributions as Mumbai won the 42nd Ranji Trophy title, joins RR for his base price of INR 20 Lac. He has represented Mumbai in 23 T20s, 26 First-Class games and 19 List A matches.”

However, Zampa pulling out of the tournament won’t affect RR bowling lineup much as they have experienced duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Ashwin already in the mix. With inclusion of Kotian, he will be expected to play when the side needs more spin options in particular in the next two months. Zampa played six games and picked eight wickets for RR in IPL 2023.

Talking about Kotian’s performance in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy 2023-24, the all-rounder scored 502 runs in the tournament including five fifties and one hundred. He also took 29 wickets at an average of 16.96 in 18 innings he bowled with best figures of 5/58. RR will kick-off their IPL 2024 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24.
