James Anderson will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with a base price of INR 1.25 crores.
Synonymous with test cricket, England’s legendary fast bowler James Anderson is regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of the 21st century. Announcing his retirement from international cricket this year, Anderson bid farewell with a record 704 test wickets, only behind Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800).
Despite being a legendary player of the game, the English speedster has never been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Throughout his career, Anderson has largely stayed away from T20 cricket to manage his workload for test cricket. Anderson’s last international T20 appearance came one and a half decade ago in 2009.
However, in a surprising move, Anderson has registered himself for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. Veteran England fast bowler will enter the auction pool in Jeddah with a base price of INR 1.25 crores.
James Anderson on His Decision to Enter the IPL Auction
Sharing his thoughts on the decision, Anderson expressed a strong desire to play competitive cricket once again. Anderson emphasized that he feels he is fresh and ready to go.
Speaking to Sky Sports he said, “That’s the whole point of going in the auction, I think, I want to play cricket again. Whether I get picked up or not is a different matter. There’s definitely a feeling inside of me that I’ve got more to offer, in some shape or form.
Noting that he still wants to contribute in whichever way possible, Anderson continued, “So, however long down the line that might be, in whatever capacity that might be, I’m not sure yet. But I’m really keen to play. I feel really fit, I’ve been bowling still, ticking over, so I feel like I’m in a good place, and I’d love to have an opportunity to play somewhere.“
Anderson’s shock decision has created a fresh buzz around the auction. Fans would be excited to see how the legendary fast bowler fares in the biggest T20 league of the world.
