IPL 2025 auction: 3 players Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might target through RTM card
RCB have retained three players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. With 1574 players registering for the auction, the list will be narrowed down after inputs from each of the 10 IPL franchises.
Before the mega auction, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) retained three players: Virat Kohli for INR 21 crore, Rajat Patidar for INR 11 crore and Yash Dayal for INR 5 crore. They will enter the auction with three RTM (Right to Match) cards.
With a purse of INR 83 crore, RCB will look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. On that note, let’s look at three players RCB might target using their RTM cards in the upcoming mega auction.
Three players Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might target through RTM card:
3. Glenn Maxwell
Australian superstar Glenn Maxwell had a poor IPL 2024 season. Nicknamed “The Big Show,” Maxwell only scored 52 runs at an abysmal batting average of 5.78 in the IPL 2024. Despite his poor outing last season, Maxwell remains one of the biggest names in T20 cricket around the globe.
Maxwell’s ability to change the game with his blistering knocks along with his handy off-spin bowling would be valuable for the Bengaluru-based franchise, who can use an RTM for the Aussie all-rounder.
2. Will Jacks
One of England’s T20 superstars in the current generation is Will Jacks, who proved to be instrumental in RCB’s comeback in the second half of the IPL season. The 25-year-old Jacks replaced the out-of-form Glenn Maxwell in the RCB playing XI last season and helped them turn their campaign around.
Jacks scored 230 runs in the IPL last season at a strike rate of 175.57. Jacks’ impressive debut season also included a magnificent century against Gujarat Titans. Jacks’ ability to hit both pacers and spinners for sixes at will along with his bowling contribution is likely to force Bengaluru to use an RTM over the England all-rounder.
1. Mohammed Siraj
India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was among the spate of releases made by his franchise ahead of the mega auction. Representing the Bangalore-based franchise since 2018, Siraj finished the IPL 2024 season with 15 wickets but had an expensive economy rate of 9.19.
Siraj is known for his wicket-taking ability with the new ball. His recent improvements in death bowling make him a valuable asset in white-ball cricket. RCB might want to regain his services through the RTM option.
